2 months!!!

Today is 2 months since Alex was first placed in our arms. The active and happy girl we have now bears little resemblance to the frightened girl we meet then. Alex barely uses Chinese anymore. She repeats almost everything we say and makes us realize the phrase we use over and over. Eating and sleeping remain our major problems. Some days Alex eats anything I give her and other days I can't even get her to eat her favorite things. She will sleep through the night, but getting her to sleep is a problem. Naps are hit or miss although I think she still needs them. Tomorrow, I return to work full time. I'm not sure which is more exhausting, chasing after a 3 year old all day, or working at the clinic. Enjoy the pictures.

Alex swimming with her friend Cameron. He had just poured water on her back.

Alex modeling her new outfit.

Our little Bulldog, ready to cheer on Mississippi State. She already knows to yell "Go State" when the cow bell rings.

Happy news

Look who has a new family. Our friends Margie and John are in China adopting their second daughter. Stop by and bask in the cuteness. Be sure to leave a comment. I couldn't be happier for them.

Isn't she adorable!!!!!
Now for an Alex update. Last week was a endless parade of doctors. Her vision is fine. We have to go back in Oct. for a test on her bladder to determine if her inability to potty train is all neurological. We finally have a pediatrician. He is wonderful and Alex really seems to like him. Monday, Alex went back and had 5 vaccinations and a TB test. Needless to say, last night she was not feeling her best. Today, I went back to work for the first time. I was gone from 7:15 to 12:15. I only called once!!!! Alex didn't really want to eat and had 2 meltdowns, but otherwise, it seemed to go okay.

Now for an explanation of the pictures. The first one is Alex dressing herself. She has definite opinions of what she needs to wear. That day, she picked out her dress. Later she decided she was cold and proceeded to put on her Sponge Bob shirt and a pair of yellow shorts.
This picture is of Alex wearing her doggie shirt. It barks when you press a button and a pair of adjustable waist shorts. I have them on the smallest size and they are still a little too big. She has on her new braces and princess shoes that we bought because none of her other shoes would fit with the new braces.

I'm a bad blogger!!!

I promised not to go so long between post last time and now it has been over a week. So...what have we been up to? My mother came up for a visit last Sunday. She rode the train up so that she could ride down to the coast with us for Labor day weekend. It rained most of last week, so we were stuck in the house with a restless 3 year old. Wednesday, the rain finally stopped so we went to story time at the local library and then ate lunch in the park.

Thursday, we headed down to the coast for the weekend. We had hoped to stay until Monday morning. Alas....the weather had other ideas. Thursday night, we had a surprise dinner for my sister's birthday. As you can see..Alex loves her Aunt Rhonda.

Friday we went to visit Margie before they left for China. Then, Alex got a haircut. Well....really just a trim. Her hair is so thin and fine that there isn't much to cut, but her bangs were always in her eyes so we got a trim.
That afternoon, Alex met her cousin Yasmin. They played well together for a while. There was one sand throwing incident, but the hurt feelings didn't last. We also went swimming, but I refuse to post pictures of that since I am in a bathing suit.

That evening, Alex wasn't feeling well and I got to experience the horror of a child vomiting in a restaurant at the table. Thankfully we had ordered but our food hadn't arrived. We got the food to go and left. The next day Alex was fine, and I still have no idea why she was sick.

Saturday we decided to high tail it back North since the lower half of Louisiana was about to empty out. Sunday my sister, her daughter and daughter in law came up her to wait out the hurricane. The trip that normally takes 5 hours took them 9 due to the traffic.

Monday we went to the mall, but I forgot my camera...(bad mommy) so I don't have pictures of Alex riding the carousel. Today, Alex had her eye exam. Everything is normal there...thank goodness.

Tomorrow is another round of doctor visits.
