Today is 13 months since we were logged in to China. I hope it is a lucky number thirteen. I have the packet from our home study agency waiting for me to work on this weekend. It is hard to believe it has been this long and it is likely that we will still be here in another 13 months.

Hi I'm Dennis
And I'm a kleptomaniac.
Dennis has a bad habit of stealing thing out of bags and purses. I have to tell anyone who comes over to watch their stuff.
Today, our friend came over with her little boy Cameron, because the heat had gone out at her house during the night.
While they were here, Dennis stole a puzzle piece from Cameron, and I had to chase him down for it. Then, he went into the diaper bag and stole a bottle of vitamins. Thankful, I caught him pretty quickly into that heist.
I think his problem is worse. In the past, his favorite thing to steal was paper i.e. receipts.
Don't let him fool you. He is devious. Anyone know of a kitty 12 step program?

Snow Day part 2
So, the snow has ended and most of it has melted. All that is left is the bitter cold tonight.
Here are a few pictures when the snow fall was at its peak.
It looks like alot, but it really is only about 1/2 an inch or so.
So, despite every one's fears, there was no blizzard, no power outages, and no roving bands of looters trying to steal our food and warm blankets.
The start of SNOW DAY.
Well, the snow has started. My husband requested I take lots of pictures since we haven't had snow in 7 years. He is stuck in Korea right now, so he is missing it.
Here is Bogie in the snow. He hates rain, but doesn't seem to mind snow.
Beta looking adorable covered in snowflakes.
Here is our house with the snow falling. I'll be taking lots more pictures later. The snow is predicted to fall all day.

WINTER STORM 2008!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Greetings from the great white south..ha ha not really. We are huddled down waiting for the big "blizzard" to come. For those of you who live north of the Mason/Dixon line, the 1-2 inches we are expecting over the next 24 hours is a blizzard. It is the biggest news story and I imagine Wal-Mart is packed with people getting bread, milk and propane. I decided to skip the fun and just hunker down next to the warm glow of my computer screen and gas log fireplace. I'll be sure to take pictures and keep everyone post on the "storm", if we don't get snowed in for weeks that is......:)

Frustration
Ever have one of those days? I found out today that the adoption wait has increased to 26 months. I guess the good news is December is next up in the review room. I found out yesterday that we have to redo almost everything for our home study update including our medical, financial and references. It is going to cost us additional money, of course. And work, well work is work. This time of year is traditionally the slowest time for veterinary clinics, so times will be tight for a bit. Ah well, at least I feel better on my thyroid medication. Gotta look on the bright side.

My Week
I realize I haven't posted since last Friday so let me bring everyone up to speed. Last Friday was my anniversary. It was wonderful for the most part. The part I left out was the visit to the doctor that morning. Let me give you a little back ground. For months now I've been tired. Not just a little tired, exhausted. It would take 4 cups of coffee to get through the day at work. I would fall asleep watching tv or reading. Dan had also been complaining that I snored at night no matter how I slept. Finally, when I determined that climbing a flight of stairs should NOT make me need a 15 minute rest I called the doctor. After checking me over he ran a ton of bloodwork and recommended a sleep study. So that was Friday.
Saturday we got up early and drove all the way to Chattanooga, Tn and traded Dan's Victory in for a Honda Goldwing. It is the bomb. It even has a cup holder for me and heated seats. As soon as we got back, we had to run to Cameron's first birthday party and then immediately after that, go out to dinner for our friend Chris's 40th birthday.
Sunday, I did almost nothing. Dan rode his new bike and then later that night we went to a friend's house for dinner.
Monday came way to quickly and I went to work. Almost immediately I had to do an emergency c-section on a large dog. By the time I was done I was exhausted and it was only 10am. However, after lunch I got a phone call from my doctor. Turns out....I'm hypothyroid. Go figure, I'm not just fat and lazy, I actually have a reason to feel the way I feel.
Tuesday, Dan left for Korea. I worked and then came home and went to bed. I started my thyroid supplement and prayed I would feel better soon
Wednesday, I went to talk to a sleep specialist. I'm scheduled for a sleep study next week. I'm not looking forward to the idea that I might have to wear a cpap, but if it will allow me to sleep better, I'll deal with it.
Today, we had the treat of severe weather so the decision was made to close the clinic early. No one was coming to see us anyway. So far, there has only been one tornado warning tonight. The good news is, I think the thyroid supplement is helping. I'm still tired, but I can do basic things without having to stop and rest in between. I guess it is a good thing this condition came to light before our adoption happened. I can't imagine feeling this way and running around after a baby/toddler.

15 years
Today is our 15th anniversary. I can honestly say, I'm more in love with Dan today, then I was on our wedding day. Thus far we have had a great day. I took the day off and slept past 6 am. We both had massages at a day spa and tonight, we are going to a very expensive steak house for dinner. I look forward to spending many more years with my wonderful husband and one day, hopefully, our daughter.
